Hello and welcome! I hope you enjoyed Tracy's post and are ready to see my take on the challenge.
When I read of the theme of this hop, it took me back in time, when I was just starting to stamp. It reminded me of my fantastic demonstrator in America, Erin and her big dining room table. And her monthly Stamp Camps she used to run and all the women that used to sit around that table and made beautiful things. Btw, quite a few I still count as my friends. How is that for Stampin' Up! fellowship?
Many years passed but I still have the technique and idea workbook Erin gave to us. And today I looked through those pages and reminded myself of techniques long forgotten (by me, anyway) and stamps sets from another decade that I loved then and still love enough to keep on my shelf. It filled me with nostalgia and weird sadness too that makes one to pause to reflect and reminisce.
Back to Basics to me means back to the beginning. So today, I am going to share a couple of pages from my old workbook.
Two Steps Stamping, Page #11
I remember how this technique wow-ed me back then. So simple but what an effect! And that wonderful set! I still have it and use it every now and then.
Since this is a proper blast from the past for me, nearly everything on this car is retired. The flower is stamped with Brilliant and Ballet Blue, Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke, More Mustard and Apricot Appeal. The sentiment is Baroque Burgundy. Two steps technique is quite easy with photopolymer set as you can see through them. This set is wood mounted and I was rather lucky to line up the images the way I did. Normally I'd use Stampa-ma-jig but this is no-tools challenge.
Shadow Stamping with an Ink Pad, Page #21
It mentions a rolling stamp accessory. To be honest, I don't remember what that is. I used just two pads, Lemon Lime Twist and Pacific Point. This is a very simple basic technique that creates a beautiful effect. Ink your stamp using the lighter pad and then smudge the edges with the darker one. Don't forget to huff on the stamp to moisten the ink before pressing it onto a paper.
Kissing, Page #34
To use this technique you need a bold solid and a background stamps. I've used a bold heart from the new set, called Heart Happiness. The background stamp is the little rose from the same set and so are the little background hearts. The sentiment is from Petal Palette. The colours are Real Red and Blushing Bride. I've stamped the smaller image onto the solid one and pushed onto the cardstock. Very happy with the results.
Do you remember my Two Steps card at the beginning? After I finished this post I decided to make another, stepped up, version of it and sent it to my old demonstrator, Erin. I am not sure if I ever told her what her stampin' evenings meant to me. Never too late to express something like that, right?
Well, this is all from me. Thank you for stopping by. Click on the arrow below to hop over the pond to see Nina McMillan's post. Enjoy the rest of the blog hop.
